I have a Jezebel Spirit
I believe in equal rights for women. I believe in women's right to choose whether and when they will get pregnant and to continue or end a pregnancy. I believe that women should control their own bodies and finances. I believe that children (and adults) should be safe, healthy, fed, educated, and loved. I believe that all people should be celebrated equally as humans:
- black
- brown
- white
- women
- men
- non-binary
- trans
- aboriginal
- born in this country or to one or more citizens
- foreign-born
- and everyone else.
I believe that immigrants are the backbone of this country, and should be treated with honor and respect. I believe that trans men are men, and trans women are women. I believe in the freedom to practice any religion, or to choose not to practice a religion, but that practicing (or not) any religion does not give one the right to demand that all people practice that same religion. I believe in science and modern medicine, including vaccines to prevent illness. I believe in taking care of Mother Earth, so our children's children's children will have a healthy place to live and flourish in and with nature. I believe that our nation should take care of its citizens. I believe that our citizens should all have, at the minimum, enough food, shelter, clothing, and medical and mental health care, along with a Universal Basic Income, to be able to survive and thrive. I believe that children and senior citizens are our most vulnerable demographics, and that the nation should provide special care and benefits for them. I believe that women are more than capable of leading this country, and should be allowed to do so. I believe that other's freedoms should not impede my freedoms, and vice versa. I believe that your freedom to express your opinions ends at my personhood and body. I believe that, while flawed, our Constitution should drive justice and the law in our country, and that we should work to improve and update it. I believe that men who abuse women and/or children should be held accountable for their actions before they are allowed to repeat their actions. I believe that the police forces in our country should be working to actively protect citizens from harm, not to be allowed to cause harm to citizens. I believe that the military forces in our country should not be used as police forces against civilians here in our country. I believe that convicted felons should not be allowed to hold elected or appointed office, especially the office of President, Vice President, the Cabinet, Senate, or Congress. I believe that no one, NO ONE, is above the law, and everyone should be held accountable for criminal activities. I believe that everyone is entitled to due process, and that accused people should not have to endure weeks, months, or years in incarceration while awaiting a fair trial. I believe that judges and juries should render their verdicts fairly and impartially, and not be coerced or swayed by any political affiliation, opinion, politician, or political appointee. I believe that information presented to the public via media, the news, etc, should be well informed, honest, and correct. I believe that freedom of speech does not mean that one can, for example, shout "FIRE!" in a crowded theater, or claim something to be true that is not true. I believe that Artificial Intelligence may have its uses that benefit humankind, but it is not a tool for deciding how to run the world, and its use should be controlled.
These are things I believe in. There is likely more that I haven't yet included here. Your list may differ from mine. That's fine. But if you feel that your beliefs allow you to decide how others must behave and what others must believe, then you are part of the problem.
